What is “Thai sport and what its profit are?

This type of sport is known as “the art of the eight limbs “, since all the striking techniques (towards the legs, front body or head of the opponent) use the fists, knees, elbows and legs. Most of the leg techniques are used with hitting with the tibia, although the front kick, executed with the foot, is also used a lot. The fight “melee” is also allowed. The term “clinching” is used to designate this technique, which consists of the two opponents grabbing each other, while trying to knock the other down towards the ground.

To do this, they must   take advantage of their weakness by sweeping, reducing its resistance until it gets tired or causing damage to the ribs, stomach, legs or hip, by hitting the knee; but always very attentive to the opponent does not attack with an elbow or a leg sweep. Muay Thai is considered one of the most complete and hard martial arts that exist, since it requires an enormous physical and mental resistance. This discipline was born in Thailand during the armed conflict with its neighbours in Burma and Cambodia. The soldiers were forced to develop protection techniques, improving their skills to use their body as a lethal weapon. During that time, the art of Muay Thai training was a discipline of compulsory domain for everyone who aspired to the throne.

As it is a Muay Thai combat

Each Muay Thai camp combat begins with a dance of each fighter as a sign of respect for their Master, which is called in Thai Way Khru. Each dance is different, depending on the area of Thailand from which the fighter comes. In the North it is done one way, in the Isaan area of another, in the centre of another and in the South of another, but all have in common gestures of respect to everything that surrounds a fight and gestures of challenge to the contrary. Although as a whole, as I have already mentioned, the dances are performed in a sign of respect for the fighter. A fight has five assaults of three minutes each and the winner is produced by the opponent’s KO, or by the decision of the referee.
